well we started recording yesterday and everything went really well,my self (todd-Bass) and the drummer(sean) laid down our tracks for six song demo,the guitar player (chris) laid his rythym tracks down on 3 of them and we are pretty happy how they came out,cant wait to finish it up and mix it,we still need a good singer ot else i will have to fake it LOL

More great news about some music of mine! The song "Speed Limit" (from the Images from the Past CD) was selected to be on the 2007 Indie Music For Life Rock Compilation CD. Indie Music and Laughs for Life is a non profit organization raising money for cancer research and awareness through the involvement of Indie artists and comedians performing at benefit concerts and through compilation CDs from songs and comedy acts each year donated by individual artists. Origins of the Ouroboros

The Serpent biting its own tail is first seen as early as 1600 years BC in Egypt. From there it moved to the Phonecians and then to the Greeks, who called it the Ouroboros, which means devouring its tail.

The serpent biting its tail is found in other mythoi as well, including Norse myth, where the serpent's name is Jörmungandr, and in Hindu, where the dragon circles the tortoise which supports the four elephants that carry the world.

Alternate spellings include: oroborus, uroboros, and oureboros.

Symbology behind the Ouroboros

The ouroboros has several meanings interwoven into it. Foremost is the symbolism of the serpent biting, devouring, eating its own tail. This symbolises the cyclic Nature of the Universe: creation out of destruction, Life out of Death. The ouroboros eats its own tail to sustain its life, in an eternal cycle of renewal.

In the above drawing, from a book by an early Alchemist, Cleopatra, the black half symbolises the Night, Earth, and the destructive force of nature, yin. the light half represents Day, Heaven, the generative, creative force, yang.

Alchemically, the ouroboros is also used as a purifying glyph.

"The mathematical symbol for infinity is known as the lemniscate. It was devised in 1655 by mathemetician John Wallis, and named lemniscus, ribbon, by Bernoulli about forty years later. The symbol is patterned after the device known as a mobius (named after a nineteenth century mathemetician) strip. A mobius strip is a strip of paper which is twisted and attached at the ends, forming a two dimensional surface.

The religious aspect of the infinity symbol predates its mathematical origins. It has been found in Tibetan rock carvings; the ouroboros, or infinity snake, is often depicted in this shape. In the tarot, the lemniscate represents the balance of forces and is often associated with the magician card."

All of my music is live.

Most times we didn't have an engineer or producer; no Pro-Tools or mixer boards.

Straight press record, and you had one shot to get it right, and the mic was rapped around a lamp pole!!!!

If I can create this type of music--under those circumstances--Imagine what I can do with professionls.I have recorded 9 songs in an hour and a half, have filled three straight cd's-live freestyle, as the beat changed and not knowing what was going to be said.

None of my songs are the same. I have a different voice, pitch, harmony, rythym. I have over 65 songs, and not one of them sounds like the other. Each time you'll think that it is somone else.

I have been on local TV in Buffalo on numerous occasions.

I have also been featured on several radio stations, including 91.3 and 93.7 WBLK as a featured artist. I have done numerous shows, block parties, features, toured several high schools of Buffalo, New York, and have been in the business aspect of music, i.e, promotions, marketing, talant recruitment for the past two years.

Remember everything good you liked about early In Flames or At the Gates? The speed? The accuracy? The raw, visceral hatred pouring from the singers mouth the like a biblical plague? Now take that, add on ten years of metal evolution and forget that little thing called hardcore even happened and you've got SENATE. I know it seems trite, but SENATE is the real deal… Few bands can actually live up to the big names they're ever so often compared to, but SENATE can seriously hold their own.

Hailing from Quebec/Ontario, these Canadian trashers take no prisoners with their sound. In the Great Northern Scenekill, there is no need for cheesy breakdowns, only pummeling riffs brought on by the bands guitarists, Jay (Siebert) & (Jayson) Hudson. These are serious, old school riffs that will make fans of anyone from Maiden to Immortal think twice before passing up this band. Not to mention the drummer, Patrice (Hamelin), raises the bar a notch every other song. Between blast beats and precision drumming, I can't tell if the drumming gets me going more than the duel guitars. Together the total metal riffage and drums lay down the heart work for the icing on the cake – the vocals. Barrowing from so many influences, Matt (DiFranco), lead vocalist screams like he is atop the highest mountain of hell…you can almost taste the evil in his voice when listening to this album. Just combine the guitar riffs of the legendary Swedes (At the Gates, Carcass, Soilwork), the raw emotion that only could come from North America, and the meticulousness that comes with any legit metal album and you'll know you've found a diamond in the rough.

There is no messing around with this band. And for the first full-length release, this is some serious production quality too. Nothing is spared with SENATE; these are some dead serious Canadians who will soon no doubt join the ranks of their Canadian brethren Threat Signal, Kataklysm and Strapping Young Lad. There's no imitation here, this is original, extremely well produced, thrash death metal that you need to have. I won't lie when I say they might be the next big thing…SENATE is quality hate in a nicely packaged box.

February 1st, 2007 I just wanted to give everyone an update, I've been slowly but surely adding a bunch of new photos from the Martyr tour we just finished. The Peterborough date is up and next will be Toronto. Last night Sean Palmerston (Sonic Unyon / Goodfellow Records) stopped by and we did an interview for Unrestrained Magazine thanks goes to him and Adrian "The Energizer" Bromley for making it happen. Look for it in the March issue, I'll be posting it here when it's been published. This coming Friday we'll be packing up and heading down to Pat's home town of Trois Rivieres, Quebec to play with Brazilian death metal act Krisiun and Germany's brutal death/black band Belphegor. This is their North American debut and we're really excited to be doing this in Quebec. It'll be our first show out of Ontario and we're curious to see how the people of Quebec accept us. January 2th, 2007 Havoc In Ontario Post Mortem Well we've come to the end of the Ontario mini-tour with Martyr, and I have to say that despite shitty weather, weird things happening here and there, and a couple rough turnouts this was a week to remember! We had a blast, made a lot of new friends, and hopefully a few new fans along the way! Most importantly, we had the pleasure of playing with THE BEST TECHNICAL METAL BAND IN THE WORLD for a week straight. We learned a lot from those guys this week, and I think that we will take that into the future and use it in a very positive way. They were very supportive, awesome dudes and I speak for the entire band when I say that seeing everyone in Martyr wearing Senate shirts on stage in Hamilton was probably the highlight of my musical career, and it was very humbling as well. I wanted to thank all the guys- Daniel, Francois, Martin and Pat for making this happen, as well as Jeff and Blackie (I never thought I would see the day that a legend of metal would be helping me with mic problems, beer problems etc. haha)�It was an honour and a privilege to spend a week with you guys!!! Also special thanks to Brent from NOC who put his **** on the line to make this show happen because he is a FAN of metal first, and a businessman second (and that is a beautiful thing). January 25th, 2007 Well we kicked off the first date of our mini tour last night with Martyr in Oshawa and even though the turn out was smaller a good time was had and we enjoyed ripping it with all the bands that played last night Also Sean Palmerston of Sonic Unyon / Goodfellow records sent me a link to an article he wrote for View Magazine, about Martyr and their stop in Hamilton and he also mentions some good things about us at the end. January 15th, 2007 Hey everyone a few updates here, first off thanks to Dennis and the guys at Metal-R.US we now have an official Senate forum moderated by the band and of course the guys at Metal-R.US. We appreciate the offer to do this and we hope this opens the band to a whole new fan base. January 11th, 2007 Well we're back in 2007 with the release of our debut album "The Great Northern Scenekill", a new website design, as well as an official announcement of our new bass player Colin Lernell! He's worked really hard in the past 4 weeks, with school and a last minute trip to Trois Rivieres to rehearse with Patrice for our upcoming 5 day mini tour with Martyr and Camilla Rhodes (on certain dates). He did a fantastic job and we welcome him to the band! I'll be slowing adding more content to the site as I get it from the guys, don't be alarmed if things don't work quite properly. I'm still going to be tweaking over the next week or so. I felt the website was offline a little to long and wanted to get it back up and running! Enjoy and we'll see you at a show soon!
